What is True Confidence?

True confidence is a soulful characteristic… Those who have it are deeply unique. Many search for it, many more long for it, but very few find it.

Some people think confidence is for that special individual; the extraordinary someone who radiates perfection.

They walk with an aroma of lightheartedness and peace that seems unattainable.

What is that confidence?

True confidence is a soulful characteristic…that exists beyond our human persona. Our imperfections and shortcomings keep us from an uplifted mind. How can one be confident in this disoriented play we call life?

But then we remember, that some truly confident few, have courage even in their failures. Even in their awkward encounters and mishaps. Even in rejection and heartache.

There is still a glimmer of hope.

But what is that confidence?

True Confidence is a soulful characteristic…founded in a relationship with Jesus Christ. But those who have this relationship are deeply unique. It is not just an acknowledgement of Jesus, but a pursuit of Him and a trust in who HE is THROUGH us as believers.

Many search for it, without clarity on their search, many long for it, but very few find it.

Some people think this sort of relationship is for that special individual; the extraordinary someone who radiates perfection.

But Jesus came to save the lost and to build a relationship with the imperfect. He came to give confidence to individuals who have nothing to be confident in except Him.

The truly confident few have courage even in their failures, assurance despite their awkward encounters, and confidence even in the midst of rejection.

There is still a glimmer of hope.

But where is this confidence?

True confidence does not come from anything I am. No, my confidence comes from the fact that Jesus Christ lives in me and through me and the presence of the Holy Spirit makes me holy!!!

“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord!” 1 Corinthians 1:31

True, raw, authentic confidence is a soulful characteristic…because it is rooted in the presence of the Holy Spirit working in us.

But wait: why do I not always feel this confidence if I’m a follower of Christ?

This confidence is not just a simple reality in our minds when we join God’s family. It is an immediate offer, but it is not easily accepted, because we have been trained by a world of shame. Instead, we must take action in understanding Christ’s sovereign, faithful, trustworthy work in our lives so that we can habitually be confident in Him, and therefore in ourselves.

True confidence is not of this world, but of Jesus Christ.

There is still a glimmer of hope, but it takes a step toward the eternally Perfect One, the Steadfast Savior that we can have true confidence in. Our confidence is in His perfection, His saving grace, His sovereign hand. And this kind of confidence from Jesus can fill our soul and allow us to radiate a peaceful aroma to those around us so they too can ask…

“What is this confidence?”

And the Gospel of our Savior can be further displayed.

Confidence=Gospel living.
